August brought some beautiful weather to Seattle and a great excuse to enjoy what our parks have to offer. Last Saturday, Ballard Commons Park was brimming with activity for the 13th Annual Sustainable Ballard Festival. We set up a really attractive booth with native plants on display from GoNatives! Nursery and drew in the kids with Butterfly Heroes Kits  to kickstart their natural backyard habit in support of our partnership with National Wildlife Federation to certify NW Seattle as a Community Wildlife Habitat. If you picked up an application at our booth, don't forget to mail it in. You can also register here, online.

August was a great time to get out take care of our parks as well. Thank-you to all the dedicated volunteers who came out to Ballard Corners Park and Salmon Bay Natural area this month to continue keeping our public spaces looking great!

If you missed out on one of our August event, you have some opportunities in September while the weather’s still good. Grab your favorite weeding tool and a pair of gloves and join us September for a workparty on the East side of the Fremont Troll’s Knoll or September 24 from 9am-11am for the Sunset Hill – Shilshole Gatewaywork party. Check out the details of these events and more below.
