Great Scotch Broom Removal Party

Help remove Scotch Broom from a young Douglas fir forest. The forest recently received permanent protection, and now we need to remove invasive plants to help the native plants flourish. King County Greenhouse and Plant Nursery Tree potting and Unique Landfill Tour

Friday, July 11 - 9:30-1:30, Maple Valley

Join Friends of the Cedar River Watershed to help pot plants for use in parks and restoration sites across King County. This nursery is a model for recycling - you'll walk on gravel paths made from King Dome rubble, set pots on old Olympic diving boards, and move plants on reclaimed hospital gurneys. We will also take a tour of the neighboring landfill to see where your trash winds up. Surprisingly, it's a great place to spot wildlife. (Note: This is on a weekday.) Family Friendly Clean-Up at Rattlesnake Lake

Sat. July 26 - 10am-2pm, North Bend

Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join us by the sparkling blue waters of Rattlesnake Lake for a day of litter clean-up. We'll learn about native plants from a watershed botanist and hear stories about the sunken town under Rattlesnake Lake. Bring a picnic lunch and don't forget your camera!
