Successful Work Party! Print E-mail

Over 25 people made our first work party a HUGE success this weekend. Michele Thurmond, Grounds Maintenance Lead for Parks, was very impressed when she stopped by in the afternoon. Many thanks to all those who helped with organizing, pruning, weeding, clean up, and treats!

Liza and Clare got the roses under control.

A few more pictures from this weekend are below (thanks to D. Smith for the photography). Thank you again to all who did attend!

Work Party 7/19 at 9th Ave NW Park Print E-mail

We will have a work party at the new park on the 7000 block of 9th Ave NW on Saturday, July 19th between 9 am and noon.

Coffee, water, and snacks will be provided. Please bring your own mug to help us save on costs.

This work party will be focusing on weeding the north part of the park, as well as removing some debris and pruning back some ivy, laurel, and holly that is impeding walkways. We may only use hand tools.

The Parks Dept has agreed to remove the green waste, so no need to bring yard waste carts!

Parks will also have some tools available, but if you have a trusty tool you like to use in your garden, please bring it.

See you there!

Minutes from Steering Committee mtg on 6/25 Print E-mail

On June 25th, a group of neighbors who had expressed interest in working on fundraising, work party organization, community outreach, and design met at the park.  We are still seeking interested community members for this committee, so stop by the work party on July 19th (between 9 am and noon) if you are interested!

The meeting covered funding information, general information about a Friends of the Park group, and a few other issues that came up.
