Successful Work Party! Print E-mail

Over 25 people made our first work party a HUGE success this weekend. Michele Thurmond, Grounds Maintenance Lead for Parks, was very impressed when she stopped by in the afternoon. Many thanks to all those who helped with organizing, pruning, weeding, clean up, and treats!

Liza and Clare got the roses under control.

A few more pictures from this weekend are below (thanks to D. Smith for the photography). Thank you again to all who did attend!

The north garden beds were cleared, the north hedge was cleaned up, the secret garden area had more than four 5-gallon containers of glass removed, ivy was ripped out, dead shrubs and rubbish were collected for removal, and ideas for other work parties and fundraisers were hatched!

We will be announcing future work parties within the next week or so. Plans are to have one in August and another by November.

Diana and Andrew got the south forsythia under control and hauled all the trimmings up to the driveway for Parks to remove.

Laura and her friend really liked ripping out the ivy. Some ivy trunks were more than 3 inches across!
