NewsFrom Catherine Darley, Board PresidentThat crisp feeling is in the air now that fall is here. It's still beautiful outdoors, and a great time to enjoy our local Ballard parks. Not only is it a pleasure to be outside with friends, or enjoying nature on your own, it is actually good for your health! Some of the positive health effects include less stress, lower blood pressure and improved thinking ability. Below are many opportunities to get out and get involved in our local parks. Ballard Sewer Problems Public MeetingThis spring, Seattle city staff presented to the Groundswell NW Board about the sewer overflow problems of Ballard, and their plans to address this problem. The time has come for you and other members of the public to weigh in at a public meeting. The closest will be at the Ballard Public Library on Tues, Oct 18, from 5:30-7:30pm. For additional meeting times and more information please go to http://www.seattle.gov/util/ Groundswell NW EventsSat, 10/01: Sunset Hill - Shilshole Gateway Community MeetingCome see the in-progress designs for this important link between Sunset Hill and Shilshole - both the overall concept plan and detailed planting plans for initial improvements at both ends of the 36th ave NW median. This will be an opportunity to weigh in on the plans and on strategies for implementing them over time. We will be picking up trash, taking care of the planters in the medians and doing a bit of weeding. Come dressed for the weather and bring weeding tools if you have them. We'll provide gloves and bags. Snacks and drinks will be donated by The Ballard Market.
