If you walk, bike or drive the connection between Sunset Hill and Shilshole on 36th, 61st, and 38th, we want to hear your thoughts about possible improvements to this corridor. Thanks to all who came to a spirited community workshop October 1 to give their thoughts on a range of ideas for both short- and long-term opportunities to make the corridor safer and more pleasant. If you weren't able to make it, you can post your thoughts on our Facebook page. and look for a feedback form to weigh in on a variety of options. And stay tuned for fall workparties to continue the weed suppression at the 36th Ave NW median ends, then start planting low-maintenance groundsovers and low shrubs.
Following our July 18 Kickoff Workshop, we held a Kickoff Workparty on July 28 to clear sight lines and start preparing for fall planting. Follow up workparties have nearly completed the work to smother weeds in the "sight triangles" at each end of the 36th Ave NW median.
We also got some great feedback at the Night Out Open House on August 2.
Thanks to all who came to our Kickoff Workshop on July 18. Over 30 neighbors gathered to give their short- and long-term ideas for improving this important connection between Sunset Hill and ShilsholeA Neighborhood Matching Fund grant has been awarded to create a conceptual plan and initial improvements for the gateway corridor between Sunset Hill and Shilshole. After advertizing and reviewing applications for a design team to help develop the plan, the steering committee has hired Barker Landscape Architects, a Ballard firm that has done a number of neighborhood parks and street projects, including Baker Park, Crown Hill Glen and Ballard Corners. A complete description of the project can be found in the NMF application. |
