Eclectic, artsy, earthy, urban and committed to a better future... that's Sustainable Ballard and the 16th Annual Sustainable Ballard Festival. Join this group of Ballard neighbors on Sept 28th at Ballard Commons Park for creativity, passion and community-building while learning about daily practices and big steps toward more sustainable living. This year's theme of "Green Steps", focuses on actions big and small that neighbors can take to reduce their carbon footprint.
The Sustainable Ballard festival is your treasure map to responsible local businesses, sustainability education and just plain fun. Press apple cider, peek under the hood of an electric car, test ride an electric bike, learn about solar for your home, explore several options for organic food delivery, buy a raffle ticket! For the kids: visit the Illumination Learning Studio Booth and make a necklace or decorative hanging using recycled marker and bottle caps; or make newspaper and construction-paper cats. Stop by a food vendor and sample healthy local food, visit the street stage to enjoy live music, or visit Festival sponsor Built Green's booth and build a recycled birdhouse. As always, the fest is FREE to the public and perfect for families!
