On June 29th, take Sustainable Ballard's 10th self-guided walking / biking tour of a dozen-plus Ballard urban farms and food gardens. This year’s tour features awkward space gardening, some fruit-heavy gardening, low-waste gardening for renters, container gardening on a garage roof, parking strip gardens, garden art, a late start garden and even a tomato trough! Explore so many creative ways to grow food in urban spaces; discover easy-to-construct chicken coops and bee houses; learn about many varieties of fruit trees, berries bushes and edible ground covers; and delight in traditional garden beds. Gardeners will be on hand to share their experience – the good, the bad and the ugly. Proceeds support Sustainable Ballard's community projects. Tour opens at 10 am. Please kindly depart our hosts’ yards by 3 pm.
