As of April 2026, Groundswell NW is awarding a limited number of $300 microgrants to support community members who want to garden in their planting strip (the unpaved space between street and sidewalk). These funds can be used to purchase soil, seeds, plant starts, and materials to build planter boxes in the planting strip.

Before completing this Planting Strip Microgrant Application, please apply for a permit through the City of Seattle’s Gardening in the Planting Strip program. You can use the same site plan for both applications. Email groundswellnw@gmail.com with questions. Happy gardening!
