Deadline for 2017 Puget Sound Stewardship & Mitigation Fund Applications

Deadline for 2017 Puget Sound Stewardship & Mitigation Fund Applications

Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment is pleased to announce the opportunity to apply to the Spring 2017 Puget Sound Stewardship & Mitigation Fund

The Puget Sound Stewardship and Mitigation Fund was created by a record legal settlement between the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance (Soundkeeper) and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway, and has since been supplemented by several other pollution mitigation payments including Trident Seafoods, Total Terminals, SSA Terminals and Louis Dreyfus Company Washington LLC. The Fund's goal is to mitigate past pollution runoff by supporting community-based efforts to protect or improve the water quality of Puget Sound. Since inception in 2012 around $2.5 million in grants have been awarded.

In 2017, the Fund will accept proposals from groups of any size. Click here to check the full eligibility requirements and to see examples of eligible projects. To apply, groups must complete the application process using the online grant application portal at http://www.rosefdn.org/onlineapplication

EBCA Adopt A Street Clean up and Rain Garden Restoration Work Party

EBCA Adopt A Street Clean up and Rain Garden Restoration Work Party

Join your neighbors on for EBCA’s biannual Adopt A Street Cleanup. We’ve been cleaning up 14th Ave NW since the Fall of 2005 thanks to your help and our incredible volunteers who organize this event. Picking up trash is a lot more fun than it sounds and is something the whole family can do together.

The EBCA will also be bringing in Cari Simson from DirtCorps who we partnered with on the East Ballard Greenstreet roadside raingardens to  lead a team of volunteers, including you, in fixing up the rain garden at the NE corner of 14th Ave NW and NW 58th. Come join us, rain or shine, bring gloves and your favorite gardening tools. This is a great opportunity to make our neighborhood a nicer place to live. Plus you get to wear a brightly colored EBCA logo vest!
